Symptoms
Symptoms following a significant injury or vehicle accident may present immediately and worsen over the next days and weeks. Sometimes symptoms do not show up for days or weeks and can also worsen over time without proper health care. If the force of an injury is enough to cause whiplash symptoms it may also be enough force to cause concussion damage, especially if the person has had concussion(s) from previous injuries and trauma.
Your Initial Visit
Your initial Case History Forms, Consultation and Examination will help us determine the course of your care and the insurance paperwork that we will file to activate your case (Minor Injury Guideline or Major Injury). At Active Chiropractic & Wellness Centre we accept approved Motor Vehicle Accident cases on assignment (Insurance pays us directly).
Filling an Insurance Claim
You have up to one year from your MVA date of occurrence to file an accident claim. Please note the insurance claims forms can be authorized by Doctors of Chiropractic (D.C.) or Medical Doctors (M.D.).
Documenting your symptoms with a regulated health practitioner and getting treatment, if needed, early will tend to have better outcomes. Delaying care until your issues have become chronic is not recommended.
Depending on the severity of your injuries, your care may fall under the Minor Injury Guideline (MIG). MIG insurance applications are automatically approved, but also put time and financial limits on the amounts of care and diversity of services we can provide. The MIG coverage is adequate for the majority of “fender benders”.
Major injuries may exceed the minor injury category and open the door to more extensive treatment options and insurance financial resources. Your insurance company has the option to accept an application for a Major Injury claim or decline pending an Independent Assessment performed by an appointed health care professional. We accept approved Motor Vehicle Accident cases on assignment (Insurance pays us directly).
Treatments
Treatment may begin immediately following your exam if x-ray viewing or other tests are not required first. Expect your rehabilitation treatments to be scheduled three times per week for the first month or longer with more severe injuries.
